Certificate of Need

In most states, before a hospital can provide new or expanded patient services, they must obtain a Certificate of Need (CON) from the state Board of Health. The application process and acquisition of a CON can be lengthy, time consuming and difficult to navigate.

The expert team at Banahan.Communications assists hospitals in gathering the required data, completing the application and seeing the process through to completion. The CON process performed by Banahan.Communications includes:

  • Research to determine the amount and type of similar services are offered in a particular market.
  • Justification to the State Board of Health that there is a need for a hospital to provide a particular type of service.
  • Completion of the lengthy and detailed application process to obtain certification from the state for the hospital to provide the service.
  • Tracking of the review and approval process and facilitating with the state as needed to determine the hospital’s eligibility.
